Mary J. Blige finally speaks on divorce!

After 12 years of marriage to Manager Kendu Issacs, Mary J. Blige filed for divorce. After the news hit the media, she remained silent publicly and went on tour for a few months. Now, she is finally speaking out publicly about why she felt it was time.

“The overwhelming disrespect,” she said. “You’re too familiar. You’re way too familiar and you’re disrespecting me and I know, I can sense that I’m not what you want anymore, because now you’re starting to throw questions around like, ‘OK, why you don’t cook?’ Well, I haven’t been cooking. ‘Why you don’t wear your hair like this?’ I never wore my hair like this before. What’s up with you? You know?”

MJB discussed how Kendu was not invested in the marriage anymore, so she took matters in her own hands. “So, you start to realize that this man doesn’t want you and he’s just gone all the time,” she said. “And you’re by yourself in the relationship when you realize you’re by yourself in the relationship and you’re just going through it, now it’s time to do some investigating.”

To me it sounds like there is a lot more to elaborate on in this situation. I think MJB still has a lot of respect for this man, and she is keeping quiet on the details for less drama. I honestly think that she only spoke publicly because Kendu took the gloves off and is trying to take her money in the divorce. He is asking for $100,00 in spousal support. Whether or not it is right for a man to ask for money in a divorce from a woman is up for disussion.

I wish the best for MJB in this divorce. Hopefully she gets the peace she truly deserves.
